• Abstract Submission

Late Abstract Submission Deadline: 01 March 2004

Online Abstract Submission

Before you submit an abstract online, you must first create an account, register for ICVM-7 and pay your Congress Fee. If you previously created an account and submitted an abstract for the early deadline, you may use the same account to submit additional abstracts for the late deadline.

Click on the Account link at any time to see your account information and to edit your late abstract(s). You will be able to make changes to your late abstract(s) until the 01 March 2004 deadline.

Special conditions for late abstract submission:

  • Late abstracts will not be published in Journal of Morphology. They will be printed in a booklet and distributed at the meeting.
  • We cannot guarantee that oral presentation slots will be available for late abstracts. First priority will go to early submissions. If you submit a late abstract, please request the type of presentation that you would prefer, oral or poster presentation, but understand that some requests for oral presentations may have to be assigned poster presentations.
  • Established scientists will have to pay the late registration fee, but the fee for students has not increased. Please encourage your students to submit late abstracts and register for ICVM-7 as soon as possible.
• Abstract Instructions

All abstracts should be submitted online. Abstracts must be submitted for all poster and oral presentations, including symposium presentations. Once you enter and save your abstract text on the web site, you can still make changes until the 1 October 2003 deadline.

Abstract format

Title Text Capitalized: the Web Site Will Automatically Format the Title into Title Case, as Shown Here.

Authors and addresses: Last or family name, First or given name, Middle initial, followed by Institution, City and Country. Email address should be given in parenthesis, but no street address. e.g. Smith, John D. University of California, Berkeley, USA (jdsmith@berkeley.edu)

Abstract Text: Maximum number of words allowed in the body of the abstract is 220. Text of abstract should be written in one paragraph; no line breaks are accepted within the body of the abstract. If authors use italics, bold or special symbols, it is necessary to use HTML encoding. Consult this HTML primer for help using these tags. Only the text of the abstract should be entered into the abstract box - do not repeat the title and author names in the abstract box.

Editing: The ICVM-7 abstracts will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Morphology. An editorial committee will edit the abstracts and make minor revisions in style, grammar, and spelling, if it appears necessary for clarity. The authors will be contacted only if the abstract needs extensive revising or editing. In this case, the authors will receive a copy of the revised abstract. If you do not want your abstract edited, please indicate so on the abstract form. However, the editorial board may decide not to accept the abstract if it is difficult to understand. Notice of acceptance will be given by 31 December 2003. The abstracts will be published online 2 months before the congress.

• Audio/Visual Guidelines

Slides:

35mm Slides may be projected from a single slide projector in each room.

MS PowerPoint (2000, XP):

We will supply computers and LCD projectors for each room. All projectors have vga connectors. They may not have the older Mac video connectors. If you must use your own laptop (e.g for Mac video files) we will provide the projector, configured as above.

If you bring just your files:

  • Preferably create the presentation on a Windows computer.
  • If you created your presentation on a Mac it will be transferred to a Windows machine. In order to do this the media must be readable by a Windows machine and the presentation should work under Windows PowerPoint. If you use fonts beyond those normally found on a default install of Windows you will need to embed them into your presentation.
  • Scan your media for viruses.
  • The preferred format for files is on CDROM or floppy. We cannot insure that you will have access to a ZIP drive. (Remember the media must be readable by Windows.)

Posters:

Maximum poster dimensions are 120 cm wide by 100 cm high. Text should be no less than an 18pt font.
